In winter 2018, I was invited to write about the Southbank Rubbings project for an Italian architectural journal. The invitation gave me the opportunity to take a step back and consider the project in a wider context - beyond "wanna do it cause it'll be fun" - though that impulse is also explored.
I realised that taking rubbings of a building is a good way in to understanding both the architecture of a building and the construction process. In April 2018 I was invited to run a rubbings workshop at the Southbank - more about this coming soon.
